One On One with Derrick Favors

 

The Basketball Beat was out at Pauley Pavillion on the campus of UCLA and got to speak with Derrick Favors from South Atlanta, HS in Atlanta, GA who is considered as the top Junior in the nation. Favors was getting prepared to go up against Jrue Holiday's Campbell Hall HS who is going to UCLA next fa in the Pangos Dream Classic.

 

BB: Talk about your trip to Los Angeles and your matchup against Jrue Holiday?

DF: My trip in LA has been fun, played against him all summer, I want to go out with a win.

 

BB: What is the feeling of being projected as the top underclassmen in the nation?

DF: It feels good, gotta keep working hard.

 

BB: What got you interested in playing basketball?

DF: When I was younger I love to play with my cousins, I just love playing the game.

 

BB: Which person you idolized and why?

DF: My mother, she works hard and I am trying to repay her. I want to try to make it in the NBA and buy her a new house or anything she wants.

 

BB: Talk about the recruiting experience?

DF: Meeting coaches, and players and telling my friends about it. It has been a lot of fun.

 

BB: What's you do when you don't play basketball?

DF: Hang out with my friends, my girlfriend, and chill out.

 

BB: What will you like to do after you basketball stint?

DF: I will like to be a commentator for TNT just like Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley.

Note: Favors had a spectacular game against Campbell Hall by scoring 32 points, had 29 boards, and 8 block shots in a double overtime win
